Wednesday, October 26, 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.; CYO gymnasium on the Mount Loretto campus at 6541 Hylan Blvd.
Ten years ago Staten Island experienced a cataclysmic storm that led to an extraordinary storm surge, irreparable property damage and the loss of 24 precious lives. Board member Dr. Alan Benimoff, Professor of Geology at CSI, fore-warned of just such storm surges for decades. Dr. Benimoff will share a comprehensive presentation of the geology and hydrology of Staten Island, its place along the eastern seaboard and the consequences of a multitude of factors which led to the Island’s worst storm surge on record. Our meeting will be at the CYO gymnasium on the Mount Loretto campus at 6541 Hylan Blvd. We will be able to share the meeting on Zoom for those unable to attend.
