Action Alert For Development Adjacent to Seaside Wildlife Nature Park

Plans are underway to build 30 two family homes (60 units) on a 4 acre lot in the Great Kills Harbor Area, adjacent to Seaside Wildlife Nature Park (block 5212 lot 37), at the intersection of Tennyson Drive and Nelson Ave. Plans also include a road opening to traffic between Mansion Ave and Tennyson Drive, directly adjacent to the Seaside Wildlife Nature Park Playground. This area has a long history of flooding, including the devastating flooding of Superstorm Sandy, where boats were toppled around Mansion Ave and 2 people drowned.

Part of this project will be in a tidal wetland adjacent area.

Per the Department of City Planning, an Environmental Impact Statement is NOT needed for this project.

Please write to DEC of your concerns regarding flooding, overdevelopment, lack of infrastructure etc. (It can be a short couple of sentences)

Comments should be sent to Jeanette Rodriguez at email DEP.R2@dec.ny.gov. The deadline for comments is this coming Friday, November 29, 2024.
