A board member thought we might enjoy this YouTube presentation by Suzanne Simard called "Mother Trees and the Social Forest." Suzanne is a professor of forest ecology at the University of British Columbia.
The video covers many topics including: how trees communicate with one another; the dangers of monoculture; the foolishness of clearcutting; etc...
Not only is the spoken content of the video excellent and instructive, but the video footage of loggers riding the logs downstream -- from a century ago -- is amazing.
